CURRENT OPEN POSITION:

Physicist

BeaconGov is looking to support our customer NASA on the development of the next generation of the microshutter arrays which will include the concept and the procedures of the microshutter arrays fabrication, their integration with the mechanical and electrical circuits and operation of the devices. One of the primary efforts will be directed at the cell design of the microshutters and MEMS processes required to achieve the mechanical and electrical performance of the individual shutters with emphasis on the release of the shutters from the frame, electrical insulation between the front and back electrodes and the frame of the array carrier.

In the area of the large size flight microshutter arrays the efforts will be directed towards the uniformity of the array, front to back alignment of the microshutter array fabrication process and the resulting yield of the operable shutters to satisfy the requirements of the fraction of the failed open and failed closed shutters. In the area of integration of the microshutter arrays with the outside mechanical structure, the efforts will be directed at the development of the drivers and the concept of the operation of the device with the following evaluation of the results and the feedback and refinement.

Job Duties:  
  • Involve in Cell design of the microshutters;
  • Involve in all the steps of fabrication process and feedback on the results of the test and performance of the devices fabricated;
  • Device design to define the requirements on the drivers of the device and its operation modes;
  • Work on large format devices development and driver’s operation of the devices crucial to the success of the project and require expert focus to make the project to success.
We are looking for individuals with previous experience in dealing with microshutter design and development for space applications for NAS A Goddard Space Flight Center located in Greenbelt, MD.
